Three friends drowned while bathing on Tuesday at the Mandarmani beach. Two of the deceased were identified as Kaushik Mandal and Samar Chakraborty. According to reports, six friends had gone to Mandarmani from Durgapur.
On Tuesday morning, many people saw them getting into the sea. Then they slowly moved away and started drowning in the water. At that time, an attempt was made to save them, three friends were saved but the other three could not be saved.
According to local sources, one person is still missing. Two people have been admitted to Badrankua Rural Hospital. After receiving the information, policemen including the OC of Mandarmani Coastal Police Station reached the spot. It could not be ascertained whether the six youths were drunk or not.
It is noteworthy that the administration repeatedly warns tourists about bathing in the sea. But questions are raised again and again on such incidents. Till the time of writing the news, two bodies were recovered from the sea while the search for the missing youth was going on.
